Day in the Life of a Choice Intern

Embarking on my journey as a Digital Media Intern at Choice Media & Communications has been an exciting and rewarding experience. Each day brings new challenges and learning opportunities in the digital media industry. As a digital media intern, my day-to-day role involves assisting in content creation, social media scheduling, Zoom calls, Slack messages, and more.

The great thing about interning for Choice is that it is fully remote, allowing me to be a full-time student and intern simultaneously. Once my classes are done for the day, it’s time to begin with Choice. Usually, the first thing I do every day is check my Slack account to read any missed messages and see what the digital media manager, Parker, has in store for me. I also check my email to view my Asana tasks and upcoming Zoom meetings or any other important information.

One of the most exciting aspects of my internship is contributing to content creation. Since I am always working on something new, my most recent project was creating Choice’s 2023 Gift Guides. I worked closely with the digital media team to create graphics that best represented Choice.

After gathering the gift guide images and creating the graphics in Canva, I uploaded the guides to LTK, a shopping website where creators add links to other brands to earn commission. I had never used LTK before interning with Choice, so it was interesting to explore this new app and see all of its features. I then scheduled all of the gift guides to be posted via Instagram stories through Later, a social media scheduling app, periodically throughout the week to gain audience reach.

Managing social media platforms is a significant part of my daily responsibilities. From scheduling posts on all of Choice’s socials to editing Instagram Reels and TikToks, I immerse myself in helping create content that aligns with Choice. The digital media world moves fast, and staying ahead of trends is key.

As the day wraps up and I still have time left before I clock out, I periodically help organize our company Canva account to make it more efficient and easier to locate projects. This is an ongoing project, and I contribute in little bits and pieces when I can.

By the end of the day, I check Slack to see if I have any new messages before wrapping up for the day and getting ready for a new day tomorrow.

One of the highlights of interning at Choice is the collaborative environment. Regular check-in Zoom calls with Parker offer valuable feedback and continuous learning. Since being an intern for only one semester, I have explored new tools, participated in a client meeting, enhanced my skill set, and broadened my understanding of the digital media world.
